I met Ms. Motley 5 years ago, while attending an educational presentation held in my local library. My siblings and I could not seem to agree on how to handle our father’s care, though we all agreed our first choice was to have him remain at home. Hearing Ms. Motley speak, I realized this was the answer we needed, to help us understand the most appropriate options for care in the home and what other options to consider. Through Ms. Motley‘s expertise, my siblings and I all agreed to have Joan coordinate our father’s home care and then even helped to intervene with the home care agency as we had any concerns or changes we needed to make with our care schedule. Within a year or so after the care was moving along smoothly, dad’s decline continued and after a bad fall and then a hospital visit, care outside the home became a reality we hadn’t thought about. Ms. Motley was with us every step of the way, between coordinating the physical therapy that was now needed, to then my siblings and I understanding what appropriate assisted living options we should consider, or the idea of potential nursing home placement. We chose a great assisted living close to one of my siblings and dad is thriving and doing great to this day! Joan continues to connect with me frequently to check in and make sure everything is fine with dad. We are not at the end yet, but have peace of mind knowing Joan is with us to the end, no matter what other challenges continue to develop in our father’s decline. Thank you, Joan! We appreciate all you have done for us!

Joan Motley helped me through the toughest time of my life, my mother’s diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease through her passing. All along the way, at every stage, Joan gave me the tools I needed to navigate the system to care for my mom with the best possible outcome. With her guidance, I was able to follow my mom’s wishes and live out her life the way she wanted. Joan is an incredible resource with a wealth of knowledge not to mention a kind and caring person. Her support, kind words and understanding gave me what I needed during that time as well. She is a true treasure.

I was so very fortunate to connect with Joan Motley as an advocate for my elderly dad. The support and compassion towards myself and my family during my dad’s struggle with Dementia was the foundation we needed to make the very best decisions regarding his care. In addition, the resources and catalog of contacts Joan provided because of her persistent networking were invaluable. I will always be grateful.

Having a parent or loved one sick can be a very dark, scary time. When my Mother Ellen became very ill with cancer, I chose to keep her in her own home and take care of her. I desperately needed help and guidance, with never navigating something as mind-rattling as this I was lost. Here my Mother was the Matriarch of the family. By her becoming ill, left my Father looking at me for guidance, and me reaching out aimlessly to hospital social workers and others whom I thought could direct me. I was spiraling downward, all while trying to keep a smile on my face for Mom.
Then in comes Joan Motley, definitely someone who is an Angel on Earth sent to help humankind. Joan’s knowledge and caring ways were a God send. Joan was able to explain to me step by step what I needed to do to get care for my Mother, which couldn’t come fast enough, especially since myself and Father were burning out mentally and physically. Joan guided us step by step and didn’t mind answering all the questions we had. Finally someone who went out of her way to help.
I can definitely say that my Mother’s last 6 months of her life weren’t easy at all, yet by having Joan Motley involved I had a piece of mind knowing that I did everything I could possibly do for her.

I’ve known Joan for several years as she helped me through caregiving for my Mom (with ALZ) and then for my Dad (with PD) and all I can say is she is a DYNAMO!
Joan was “there” for me through all the challenges of caregiving, making contacts, finding doctors, home health agencies, MLTCs, and providing support through telephone support group with other caregivers struggling with similar issues.
Joan kept me balanced and calm and provided support when I needed it the most. I highly recommend Joan for all care management solutions!
