I’ve known Joan for several years as she helped me through caregiving for my Mom (with ALZ) and then for my Dad (with PD) and all I can say is she is a DYNAMO!

Joan was “there” for me through all the challenges of caregiving, making contacts, finding doctors, home health agencies, MLTCs, and providing support through telephone support group with other caregivers struggling with similar issues.

Joan kept me balanced and calm and provided support when I needed it the most. I highly recommend Joan for all care management solutions!

I am so thankful for Joan’s support, she definitely set me on the right path and helped me realize that I was not alone and there were ways to live with this disease.

Having a parent or loved one sick can be a very dark, scary time. When my Mother Ellen became very ill with cancer, I chose to keep her in her own home and take care of her. I desperately needed help and guidance, with never navigating something as mind rattling as this I was lost. Here my Mother was the Matriarch of the family. By her becoming ill, left my Father looking at me for guidance, and myself reaching out aimlessly to hospital social workers and others whom I thought could direct me. I was spiraling downward, all while trying to keep a smile on my face for Mom.

Then in comes Joan Motley, definitely someone who is an Angel on Earth sent to help human kind. Joan’s knowledge and caring ways was a God send. Joan was able to explain to me step by step what I needed to do to get care for my Mother, which couldn’t come fast enough especially since myself and Father were burning out mentally and physically. Joan guided us step by step and didn’t mind answering all the questions we had. Finally someone who went out of her way to help.

I can definitely say that my Mother’s last 6 months of her life weren’t easy at all, yet by having Joan Motley involved I had a piece of mind knowing that I did everything I could possibly do for her.

Walking into a support group for Alzheimer’s caregivers was a tough step. Admitting I couldn’t do it alone, along with so many other emotions that come with caring for someone was very overwhelming.

I was greeted by Joan’s smile that immediately eased my fears and made me realize I am not alone in this journey. As I returned week after week Joan provided the group with endless information and comforting advice. She offered at times solutions to situations that seemed impossible to solve.

Her levels of compassion and experience were life changing for me. I can honestly say if my path had not crossed Joan’s I would have had to surrender to the idea of caring for my Mother at home . I carry her words of encouragement with me through the tough times. She always left  her door open at any time to lend an ear during challenging periods iMessage. I am forever grateful for her friendship and guidance. She’s one of a kind !!

I was so very fortunate to connect with Joan Motley as an advocate for my elderly dad. The support and compassion towards myself and my family during my dads struggle with Dementia was the foundation we needed to make the very best decisions regarding his care. In addition, the resources and catalog of contacts Joan provided because of her persistent networking were invaluable.  I will always be grateful.  Sincerely,  Carmela
